GEORGE GROSZ

Dear Sophie -

GEORGE GROSZ illustrated life in Berlin Germany in the 1920's. He documented his criticism of the bourgeosie, the corruption of the church and his hatred for the arrogance and brutality of the military.

His visual attacks were accompanied by equally damning captions in three languages.

Fortunately he safely got out of dodge and settled in Bayside, Queens.

SUBODH GUPTA

Dear Sophie -

SUBODH GUPTA and his wife, the artist BHARTI KHER live in Gurgaon, a new city, just on the outskirts of New Delhi, India. Subodh uses the ubiquitous tin kitchen utensils that are found in every home in India as a primary material to construct the narrative of his art.

Gupta is represented by PETER NAGY and GALLERY NATURE MORTE in New Delhi, Berlin, the new space at the Oberoi in Gurgaon and in Brooklyn, New York in partnership with Bose Pacia Gallery. Nagy is responsible for one of the first galleries in India dedicated to the contemporary Indian art community.

Yes pickle, your Peter.

with love,

Mom
