ANN HAMILTON

DEAR SOPHIE -

The New York Times art critic JOHN ROCKWELL may have summarized it best when describing  the theatrical installations of ANN HAMILTON:

Work like this challenges the stale conventions of dividing the arts into neat little categorical boxes like classical music, pop music, dance, film, television and art. Artists have broken out of their categorical cells, sloughed off their categorical chains. They make art that crosses all boundaries, bursts out of all boxes. All we art lovers have to do is put aside our old expectations and hang on for the ride.
