ED RUSCHA is a Los Angeles based artist. He has used language in his paintings blending POP ART and Conceptual sensibilities. His palette and much of his iconography is distinctly So. Cal. Ruscha's history as a graphic artist surely informs his aesthetic.
Geography and a sense of place is prominent in Ruscha's work. In "The Sunset Strip" he photographed the length of Sunset Blvd. and published the work in an accordion format extending 27 feet long. In this recent series of prints he produced with Crown Point Press titled L.A.S.F. he expresses the intersection between Los Angeles and San Francisco. (Perfect for us, right?!!)
