MIRO

Dear Sophie -

JUAN MIRO was a surreslist painter.  He was born in Barcelona, but left to join the Surrealists in Paris in 1930 where he was a central figure and collaborated with the artist MAX ERNST.

The Surrealists sought an authentic internal source of inspiration for their art using dreams and the  unconscious.

Miro spent his summers in Spain, but had to depart at the onset of the Spanish Civil War.  Miro's life was disrupted again having to flee Paris with the German occupation in WWII.

Ultimately Spain was Miro's home.  He produced many paintings, prints and three dimensional works throughout his career.

His work makes Peter drool.

With love,

Mom
