NAM JUNE PAIK was the first video artist, bringing new technologies into a gallery context. He was trained as a classical pianist and was strongly influenced by JOHN CAGE & ALLEN GINSBURG when he came to the United States from Korea (studying in Japan and Germany along the way...).
